Scriptural Demand After Prayer
Very evident in the Scripture is the call and demand for prayers at all times. The Lord Jesus Christ taught us that “men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). Consistent and persistent prayer is a type
of prayer that the believer is admonished to engage in (1 Thess. 5:17).
The consistency and persistence in prayer are not expected to come to a stop after
you have required the answer for which you prayed. The consistency and
persistency in prayer is paramount to constantly establish and exercise
the authority of God in all areas of our lives and to remain victorious in a world
that is full of chaos and evil.
One important thing to note when it comes to prayer is that God is capable of
answering every single demand we make in prayer. He invited us to call unto
Him and He will answer us (Jer. 33:1 – 3). If He cannot answer us,
He will not ask us to call unto Him. Our Lord Jesus Christ also
authoritatively told us to ask because we shall receive (Matt. 7:7). This is
because He knows the Father has the ability and resources to answer us.
However, it is important we know that there are still scriptural demands we have
to meet after prayers. I want to briefly list them. In practising them, we have great
assurance of the practical manifestation of the answer to the prayers we have
made.
The first demand is to maintain a joyful countenance. When you read 1 Samuel
1, we would notice that it was after Hannah’s countenance was no longer sad
that God remembered her and she got pregnant after meeting with her husband.
Praying to God and still putting on a sad look is proof that you doubt the ability of
God is bringing your desire to pass. If you wait to see your answer before you put
on a joyful countenance, it shows you are walking by sight and not by faith. So,
after praying, learn to put on a joyful countenance.
The second demand I want to share with you is that of engaging in praise and
not complaining. Numbers 11:1 says that when the people complained it
displeased God. Don’t complain anymore about an issue you have brought
before the Lord in prayer. Your complaining is a sign of unbelief in the ability of
God. Yes, it is possible that some issues you have prayed about would not
change immediately, but assuredly they will change as Lord as God will answer.
So you have no business complaining after praying. Stay hopeful and engage in
praising God who can bring to pass that which you have asked of
Him. Abraham got his heart’s desire as promised by God because instead of
complaining he kept glorifying God (Rom. 4:20-21).
The third thing that is required you should do is to speak forth the manifestation
of your desire which you have prayed about. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us that
we shall have whatsoever we say. “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever
shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith
shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:23).
It is my prayer that you will always you the right attitude after praying that would
make you experience the answer to your request in Jesus’ mighty name.
